This piece of furniture was purchased in Genoa, Italy in the early eighties. It has two small drawers, two doors and one shelf inside. The top is coated with a slate gray matte stain and the rest of the piece is painted in two shades of lilac and slate gray hues. Eight Giovanni Boldini (Ferrara 1842 – Paris 1931) ladies painting reproductions were blended in the front and side (6 small in the front and 2 large on the sides). During his many years in Paris, Boldini became the most fashionable portrait painter in the late 19th century: for a Lady to have her portrait painted by him was the crowning event of the social season. The three tones of paint meshed together create an oneiric atmosphere and invite Boldini’s Ladies to come through the piece. The soothing tones make it perfect for a bedroom or an elegant living room. Please note that the top is slightly warped on the right side: that doesn’t impact the sliding of the drawer nor affect the smoothness of the top.
